Crime Lab & Evidence Storage Facility - Sheriff Manning inherited a substandard crime lab and cramped evidence storage area housed in the old jail kitchen in the basement of the courthouse.

Numerous OSHA regulation concerns and the deplorable conditions in which our Identification Officers worked prompted Sheriff Manning to seek construction funding from the Pitt County Board of Commissioners.

Subsequently, a new crime lab and evidence storage facility was built inside the unused gymnasium adjoining the detention center. This state of the art facility was designed with the counties future growth in mind and will be an asset to crime control efforts in Pitt County for many years to come.

The facility includes evidence fuming hoods, laboratory work stations, computerized fingerprint identification systems, computerized video enhancement equipment, alternate light source evidence collection equipment, a photography lab, biohazard work room, climate controlled storage for fragile evidence, offices and a large property storage area.
