New computer software was
acquired and installed during Sheriff Manning's
first term in office. The software from OSSI, a
North Carolina based company, known as Pistol 2000
integrates three major areas of Sheriff's Office
operations into a user friendly Windows based
system. The RMS (Records Management System), JMS
(Jail Management System) and CAD (Computer Aided
Dispatch) systems are linked. Data is shared between
the point of dispatch, investigation records,
criminal and civil records and jail booking. An
investigator pulling up the mug shot of a suspect at
this work station miles away from the jail is just
one example of the advantages of having the linked
systems. Time is saved and operations made more
efficient with this state of the art technology.
