Inmate Work Crews from the Detention Center, first introduced to Pitt County by Sheriff Manning in 1999, operate throughout Pitt County cleaning trash and debris from roadways, illegal dump sites and county owned parking lots. Inmate work crews provided invaluable service during the Flood of 1999 by filling sandbags that were used to preserve utility sites and other key infrastructure systems.
